Chen, Jake
Prof. Jake Chen is an assistant professor of Informatics
(Indiana University) and Computer Science (Purdue)
at Indiana University ¨C Purdue University, Indianapolis,
Indiana. He is an IEEE senior member, the founding
director of the new Indiana Center for Systems Biology
and Personalized Medicine
(http://bio.informatics.iupui.edu/CSBPM/), and members of
Indiana University¡¯s Center for Computational Biology and
Bioinformatics, Cancer Center, Center for Bio-computing,
and Center for Environmental Health. He received PhD/MS degrees
in computer science from the University of Minnesota at
Twin Cities and a BS degree in molecular biology and
biochemistry from Peking University, China. In the past
decade, he worked at Affymetrix, Inc., CA, to develop
early commercial GeneChip products and headed a
computational proteomics team at Myriad Proteomics, Inc.,
Salt Lake City, UT to map the first
¡°human protein interactome¡±. After joining Academia in 2004,
he has published widely in bioinformatics including
most recently an edited book--Biological Database Modeling.
He is active in faculty entrepreneurship, helping to co-found
several Indiana biotech startups and non-profit organizations.
His current research interests include: biological data
management, semantic webs, data mining, network and systems
biology, and translational biomedical applications.
